Internships

Internships
We believe internships and networking are vital to the training and ministry of both young, aspiring pastors AND to local churches who host and train them.  SCE works with a select group of doctrinally sound Bible colleges and Institutes to provide and facilitate summer and longer termed internships.  Carefully choosing and matching pastor/church/intern is critical to the process.  SCE Executive Director Dan Nave has two decades of internship and mentoring experience in the local church, and is able to work with the schools, the churches, and the men to make the internship a Christ honoring experience.

An Internship with SCE would provide exposure to ministry in many areas, including the following:

Preaching - Opportunities for expositional pulpit ministry will be provided, along with mentoring during the planning  stages. The number of preaching opportunities will vary based on the length of the internship.

Teaching - The participant will be assigned a specific passage of Scripture to be taught to several different groups of people within the church setting.  Examples of groups to be taught include:
boys and girls (Children's church);
Jr. High (Youth meeting);
Sr. High (Youth meeting); &
Adult Bible Study
The purpose of this exercise is to train the intern to use the same Bible passage in several different settings, making it applicable to all.  These teaching sessions will play a major role in building relationships with the entire church family.

Church Leadership -  The intern will attend monthly Elder and/or Deacon meetings to gain experience in this part of the local church ministry.

Outreach - The intern will assist the Pastor in visitation of new contacts.  In addition, he will be encouraged to try to build relationships in the community that will lead to evangelistic opportunities.
